A GUNNER'S GRIEVANCE
I wanted to be a pilot, you along with
me.
But if we were pilots, where would the Air Force be?
The pilot is just a chauffeur, his job to fly the plane.
It is we who do the flight, yet we don't get the fame.
It takes guts to be a gunner, to sit out in the tail.
When the Messershmits are coming, and the bullets begin to wail.
If we are all to be gunners, let us make this bet.
We will be the best damn gunners, the Jerry ever met.
